The average order of elements in the multiplicative group of a finite field

چکیده
For any positive integer, we investigate the average order of elements in the multiplicative group of a finite field Fpk , where p is prime. Luca worked out the case k = 1 and we extend his results to the case k = 2 and sketch the outline to approach the general case where k is arbitrary but fixed. We show that the mean of the average order function for p 6 x is asymptotically Ckx for a certain positive constant Ck.

Generalized Jacobian and Discrete Logarithm Problem on Elliptic Curves
Let E be an elliptic curve over the finite field F_{q}, P a point in E(F_{q}) of order n, and Q a point in the group generated by P. The discrete logarithm problem on E is to find the number k such that Q = kP. In this paper we reduce the discrete logarithm problem on E[n] to the discrete logarithm on the group F*_{q} , the multiplicative group of nonzero elements of Fq, in the case where n | q...

Maximal subsets of pairwise non-commuting elements of some finite p-groups
Let G be a group. A subset X of G is a set of pairwise noncommuting elements if xy ̸= yx for any two distinct elements x and y in X. If |X| ≥ |Y | for any other set of pairwise non-commuting elements Y in G, then X is said to be a maximal subset of pairwise non-commuting elements. In this paper we determine the cardinality of a maximal subset of pairwise non-commuting elements in any non-abelian...
متن کاملA Characterization of the Suzuki Groups by Order and the Largest Elements Order
One of the important problems in group theory is characterization of a group by a given property, that is, to prove there exist only one group with a given property. Let be a finite group. We denote by the largest order of elements of . In this paper, we prove that some Suzuki groups are characterizable by order and the largest order of elements. In fact, we prove that if is a group with an...
متن کاملA boundary element/finite difference analysis of subsidence phenomenon due to underground structures
Analysis of the stresses, displacements, and horizontal strains of the ground subsidence due to underground excavation in rocks can be accomplished by means of a hybridized higher order indirect boundary element/finite difference (BE/FD) formulation. A semi-infinite displacement discontinuity field is discretized (numerically) using the cubic displacement discontinuity elements (i.e. each highe...
